outwash

GLOSSARY OF VOLCANIC TERMS
Sediments deposited by glacial meltwater beyond the active glacial ice. Outwash sediments are commonly characterized by poorly bedded gravels interlayered with well-bedded (and commonly cross-bedded) sands.
